El Grito
Last Saturday (September 15) was a big deal here in Mexico. It is called “the cry of independence”. It is in remembrance of the start of the revolution back in 1810. So it’s not the actual day of independence, but of the night the Mexicans got fed up, and started a revolt against its Spanish government. It is a very patriotic day for all Mexicans, and most people gather in town squares or plazas in every city in Mexico for a day of food, music, dancing, games, and fun. It ends with some important person, usually a president or governor starting the chant at 11pm. This is followed by lots of screaming and cheering and, of course, fireworks. It’s hard to describe the atmosphere in words, so I posted a few .NEW PHOTOS AND VIDEOS.
I went with one of my best friends I’ve made here in Mexico, and even managed to talk a bunch of Hondurans and most of my small group into coming also! It was a lot of fun, and another memory that I will never forget
